We had a very laid back Christmas Eve this year. We attended our church service the night before and it was awesome as always. This freed up Christmas Eve to spend together and celebrate two very special occasions. The most obvious being Christmas Eve but the second being Mawmaw's first birthday in heaven. While we know she is having the ultimate birthday party we are sad that we are not with her. We did have a big Christmas lunch/dinner complete with turkey, dressing, mac-n-cheese, fried potatoes, corn and even birthday cake. This was my first attempt at a turkey all by myself. I have to say it turned out pretty yummy. The food was delicious and we lit a candle for Mawmaw while we ate. After stuffing our faces we took a couple of pictures before we opened the traditional Christmas eve present. Hannah Claire was very excited to help us all open our gifts. She is quite the handy helper.
Wyatt was glad she helped but he kept a close eye on her with his new garb.
"What? There is nothing to see here."
Since everything goes straight to this kids mouth, a key ring was the ultimate present for him.
On to help Pawpaw. Pawpaw got to open his ultimate gift, a Logan's gift card. This man loves him some Logan's. I'm not even sure loves is an accurate description.
Handy helper Hannah Claire then moved on to help mom. Now I'm not sure if I should be flattered or offended but this is the second year in a row that my sweet husband has bought me pajama pants that are too small. Last year I credited it to being pregnant. This year I blame the extra baby weight but I might should be taking it as a hint? :)
Dad was not left out of the help and no he did not get diapers for Christmas, although that would have been hilarious! The diaper boxes were a good resource for larger items this year and Dad's new pillows fit perfectly.
Hannah Claire finally got to open her present which she promptly put on and modeled for us.
After a little fun play in her kitchen with her new apron, hat, mitt and whisk she was ready to put out the reindeer food. She was fired up about this since she had helped make the food and gave some away to her classmates at school.
We still had to decorate some cookies for the big man in red. We only decorated a few this year but HC is very serious about her job. She even ate a cookie! This is a huge deal since she will only eat sugar cookies from Publix. I don't know why but that is just how she rolls. I was honored that I finally rank up there with Publix in the cookie department.
The finished product.
We found this picture on our camera. I guess Buddy the Elf took a picture on Santa's gift to HC before he left for the North Pole. Sneaky little elf. He also created some more mischief before he left but that will be covered in the Christmas day post.
