WOW!

Okay, I realize this may be a one time thing but we are so excited about it we had to share.  Hannah Claire slept through the night.  Yes, she is only  5 weeks old.  She went to sleep at 10pm and slept until 6am!  Praise God!!!  Hopefully this will be our new routine.  We could get used to that.  With a passion for sleep this early she is her mother's child.

Shane's 1st Father's Day

Sunday was a great day for us.  We got to celebrate Shane's first Father's Day.  Hannah Claire and I are so thankful to have Shane as her Daddy.  He is wonderful with our little girl.  He can make her smile, calm her down and change a diaper like none other.  Here are some of the highlights from our day.
This is how we found Miss Hannah Claire on Father's Day morning.  What a rough night.  We have wiggled so much that she was out of her swaddle, her gown was up around her waist and one sock was off.  That is what I call great sleep.
You can see the love and laugher that Hannah Claire has for her Daddy!  This was taken when we got home from church.
She loves kisses from Daddy too!
There were lots of gifts we were blessed with for Hannah Claire.  Shane was most excited about the Baby Bjorn.  This is what we plan to use for football season, which will be here before we know it!!!  Shane got it out and tried it out.

I think she likes it!  Roll Tide!

We hope everyone else had a great Father's Day.

1 Month Today

It is so hard to believe but Hannah Claire has already been here for 1 month.  It has been a fun, exciting and sleep deprived month.  We have loved it.  It is amazing to look back at HC's newborn pictures and see how she has grown and changed in such a short period of time.  It is hard to see when all you do is watch her all day long.  You never know when she she will do something fun and exciting...
While getting her diaper changed and pitching a little fit, HC decided she would grab her passy and wave it around.  Shane was in the shower so how was I to capture this moment (the camera was in the living room and we were in the nursery)?  I just knew if I put her in the crib to go grab the camera she would drop it but I had to try.  Thankfully I did.  Here she is waving it around and then...
...she actually got it in her mouth.  I snapped too fast and she is super fast a spitting out the passy.  Yes, our child is way ahead of schedule.  She is a genius!
Again, when you are a genius you have a lot to ponder.
Here is our sweet friend Bella posing with HC.  She was so sweet to offer HC some of her care bear birthday cake.  Problem was we were still at the hospital on Bella's b-day so we didn't get to make it to her party, which she clearly pointed out to me at dinner the other night.  It was so cute.  She says... "Excuse me, you missed my birthday party."  Kids don't forget anything.
HC is loving her giraffe from Melissa & Pat.  It is about the same size as her.  How cute!  Thanks for the adorable gift.

Now for the pictures from today:
Daddy fed HC for the first time today.  We have been nursing but thanks to the "the pump" Daddy gets to be a part of this exciting event now.
We also had our doctor's appointment today.  HC loves her doctor.  Look how calm she was.  She did fabulous!  She is up to 9lbs 2ozs and 22in long.  She is average size and above average on length.  We had a great checkup and don't go back for another month.  I think the appointment is more for the parents.  We had a list of questions to make sure we know what we are doing.  It was very comforting to know that our daughter is growing as she should and we have not done anything to hurt her.  So far so good.

We saw a neat idea to take a picture of your child in the same spot every month to see how she has grown.  We started that today.  Look for a progress report each month.  (If we remember to take the pictures)

HC Update

We have been very busy learning how to take care of our new little one and sleeping every other possible minute.  Maybe we will be a little better at updating pictures because we have lots of them.  Friday, HC will be 4 weeks old!  Man these weeks have flown by.  We are having so much fun.  We are so thankful that Shane has had time off of work to stay home and help out.  We will be going to the pediatrician on Monday for our one month checkup.  She is growing fast and one hungry little chick.  I can't imagine who she takes after?  Here are some of her new pictures...
This was HC's first stroll around the neighborhood.  She loves to ride in her stroller.
Aunt Lorie, I mean Great-Aunt Lorie, came to help out and spend some quality time with HC.  We had a blast.  Thanks Lorie!
Does this need a caption?  She is a Daddy's girl already.

We have lots of fun wearing our new outfits.  Look how cute I am in my red polka-dot outfit from Mawmaw and Papa.
Our sweet friend EK came for a visit.  She got to hold HC and give her a kiss.  EK was very concerned before HC arrived that she would not have a passy.  She knows that her baby dolls love their passys so she wanted to make sure that HC would have some.  She was able to see all of her passys, unfortunately HC was asleep so she was not able to give her one.
Look at the big smiles from EK and her Mommy, Cile.
I am a funny girl!
Here is another cute outfit from Mawmaw & Papa.  Love the hat!!!!

Love this outfit.  Look how cute the bottom is.  The tail actually flaps.  Thanks JC we love it.  She got it at this cute website.  www.sweetcarolinegifts.com

More Pictures

We have finally got more pictures of our precious baby girl.  We love her more everyday, if that is possible.  She celebrated one week of life yesterday.  Man how time flies.  We have been so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family taking good care of us.  We really appreciate all of the thoughts, prayers and love from everyone.
This is HC's favorite position.  She loves to stretch out.
Football season is how many days away?
I got to spend some quality time with my Mawmaw and Papa.

This is my first tummy time with Daddy.  I loved it!
Look at my grin.  My Granny Sue (great-grandmother) was holding me at the hospital.  We had four generations of women in the room at once.  Of course we forgot to take a picture.
I love my Daddy!!!
This was when I first came home.
Me & my Nana had lots of fun this week and look forward to Nana coming back.
We tried to take pictures for birth announcements.  We thought a pretty dress was a good idea.  It really didn't work like we planned.  Here was the best one we got.

Weighing in at 8 lbs 6 oz & 20" long...HANNAH CLAIRE MILLER!

You reach different points in life in which you leave something behind and move on. It's called growing up. We transition from the womb to the world; kindergarten to middle school; jr high to high school to college; parents to spouse; etc. We use all of these learning experiences along the way to mold us into who we become when we grow up.

There is nothing that could prepare me for the JOY I had last night when my baby made her feet-first entrance into this world. The most amazing miracle happened right before my eyes and I thank God we made it to St. Vincent's in time. It all started with a few afternoon contractions that were 10 minutes apart. The Dr. told us to wait until the contractions were 5 min apart before coming in. That was almost a mistake...

Our Church of the Highlands small group that Brandi & I co-lead was having our last get-together of the semester at our house, of all places. Brandi kept getting up from the table while we were eating our lasagna. After counting the contractions and talking to the nurse, we decided it was time to head to the hospital. I had not fixed a bag or got any of the necessary electronics together, so it was a mad dash to get the essentials in order and get out the door.

With guidance from God and the charger's hazard flashers, we made it to the Women's Center and got Brandi ready for the C-section. Shortly after our arrival, the nurses checked Brandi's vitals and discovered she was 6cm dilated. We had made it just in time! Brandi's doc was not on call this weekend, so Dr McKee helped us out. I got to film most of the delivery and Hannah Claire's 1st bath. We are so blessed by the Lord above and are so excited to share her with the rest of the world. I know I'm a little biased, but isn't she beautiful???

Almost There!

Hannah Claire's arrival date is quickly approaching and we are so excited.  We have been very busy preparing for her arrival.  We have great news... the furniture finally arrived.  We got the crib a couple of weeks ago and the dresser arrived last Friday!!!  Once the nursery looks presentable I will post some pictures.

Along the way we were honored to have two more showers.  We have the best friends ever!  Here are a few of the shots from the showers.  Look at the adorable cupcakes (from Edgars, my favorite!) with Hannah Claire's monogram.
Here is a shot of the hostesses from one of the showers (Melissa, Heidi and Rebecca).  I had a great time and got to see many friends I don't get to see all the time.  Everyone was so sweet and we are so thankful for the friendships we have .

Our sweet friends from church also had a shower for us.  We are so thankful to have found such a wonderful church and made so many great friendships there.  Thank you Debbie, Karen, Ashley & Annie.  We love you guys and thank you so much for putting together a fabulous shower!  Here is a snapshot of one of our favorite gifts.  Mrs Debbie got this for our little Bama girl.

We are so thankful for the joy and excitement that everyone has shown for our little girl.  We love you guys and thank everyone for all of the gifts and blessings you have shared with us.
