These are the peeps I get to thank for two wonderful trips! Shane's team has earned a trip two years in a row! We get to go somewhere fun and spend time together, without kids! This year we spent a long weekend in Amelia Island. It was a great get away and very relaxing. We didn't see the sun the entire time we were there but we didn't mind one bit. The first night we had a reception and dinner together. The rest of the trip was time on our own, we usually ended up with some other couples because they have a fun group!
Shane and I snuck away for a romantic dinner one night. We took some pictures of each other before one of his teammates and his wife showed up at the same restaurant. So we had a nice romantic dinner for 4.
The next day was our big excursion. We had planned to go deep sea fishing. This was a first for me and I was excited. Sadly we were not sure if we would actually get to go because of the weather and waves. We decided to head out and stay in the backwater. Here is our group before we had to spit onto two boats.
Our boat was the best, of course! The water was pretty choppy but it was still great to be out and doing something beach/water related.
Mindy was the first to real in something. It turned out to be a baby shark.
Shane was the next with a little bit bigger of a baby shark. Are you noticing a pattern? There were a lot of baby sharks caught on our excursion. Makes me rethink swimming in the ocean. Just saying...
Zane reeled in the big daddy shark. Again, not sure about getting into that water again.
I may have been the last to reel something in but I made mine count.
He was a fighter and my arms were like jello when he finally got to the boat. They kept saying reel and then let him run. I guess they knew what they were talking about but it seemed like he was running more than I was reeling.
He was the only "real" fish caught on either boat. He was a drum and you could literally hear him drumming in the cooler.
Mindy thought she had one to beat me.
She caught a stingray! Yes, the kind that can kill you. She got her picture made with him and back into the water he went.
Here is one more shot of my catch of the day before he got filleted for the trip back to Alabama. We brought him home and cooked him up. He was quite tasty!
The last night almost everyone went to eat together. We had so much fun and I look forward to another trip next year!!!
