A Day at the Lumberyard

Saturday we went out to the lumberyard to see Pappy's horses and dogs. Hannah Claire had been talking about she was going to ride Yellowhammer when we got there. She didn't this trip but Daddy did. It was his first time on a horse. He did great!

Mom took her turn on Yellowhammer too. Wow it has been a while since I was on a horse. The crazy mule did some entertaining in the mean time.

Pappy is so talented in working with horses and mules. He has trained his mule to do tricks (yes like a dog). She rolls over and shakes. It is really pretty funny.

While we were there Mom and I were playing photographer with HC. We actually got some great pictures.

Pappy is somewhat of a pack rat. When he and Mom remodeled their house he took lots of the pictures out to the lumberyard and put them in what used to be the hardware store. Well, they have not been moved back so HC got to see some old school pictures. She found one of mom and me from a long time ago. Wow, look at that hair! We both had perms. HAHA! I don't think Hannah Claire knew what to think.

Wyatt's First Time On the Lake

The kids and I headed up to Nana & Pappy's for some fun in the sun since I am still on maternity leave. Dad had to work but headed up on Friday for the weekend. Hannah Claire could not wait to go swimming. She is a little river rat. Ah, Mommy's girl! She and Aunt Lorie had a blast swimming together.

That boy loves to be outside and then you throw a fan on him and it is all over. Nana took Hannah Claire for her first ever jet ski ride. It did not seem like she was digging it much at all.

When Nana brought her back she curled up on my chair. She said she didn't fell so good so we checked her temperature. Yea, she was playing on the river with a fever. It spiked up to 103 that night. Yes, mom of the year here. After consulting with the pediatrician on call for our office he said she should be fine and not to come home early. Well good since it was Wednesday and we had been there less than 24 hours. Her fever broke and she was much better on Thursday. Mom had been telling HC about the train at Spring Park so we headed over to take a ride. When we got there there was huge black cloud right over the park. It was pouring! Not a block away but right over the park it. We waited it out and took the train around the park.

We stayed out of the water on Thursday to make sure HC was really feeling better. That night she and Wyatt crashed on Nana. I'm pretty sure Nana was in heaven on earth!

Friday we headed back to the pier for some more fun.

We even had a special visit from Granny Sue and Papa John.

For the record, Hannah Claire rode the jet ski with me once she felt better and loved it. We also ended up taking her to the doctor on Monday when we got back because her fever was lurking around 100. Yep, double ear infection with a sinus infection. You heard me right the first time, mom of the year right here. Also Wyatt went for his first boat ride and HC, Lorie and I went tubing. Since Mom had Wyatt on the boat and Pappy was driving we didn't get any pictures. All I can say is that after thinking the tube was going under and having a panicky mommy moment, everything was perfect and HC loved tubing!

Milestones

I forgot how quickly babies change. It seems like everyday Wyatt changes or does something new. From smiling and showing those beautiful dimples to interacting with us. Wyatt loves his sister. She can make him smile when no one else can.

Even she gets the pouty face sometimes too. The bottom lip does not make exceptions!

On August 1 we were hanging out in Daddy and Mommy's bed. Now I know it was probably a fluke (at 6 weeks old) but this strong little boy rolled over. I'm not sure if the bed was sloped down some or if he was just trying to save himself from his sometimes overly zealous loving sister, but he did it!

Hannah Claire continues to amaze us with the things she knows and can do. I love seeing her do things that I can remember doing as a child. One of my absolute favorites was to take people's order. My grandparents had one of those mac-daddy vans with a tv (which never worked but was super cool for that time), a fridge and a table that could be put up inside. I used to walk around (because you still could at that time) and take people's drink and food orders from Cullman to Birmingham. We always met at the Cullman Shell station on exit 310 for the exchange between my mom and grandparents. Hannah Claire now does a similar thing where she likes to take our order for what we need from Publix. She is very serious about her job. "What else" is the response we get after she has jotted down the last item named. Daddy says she wants to be like Mommy. I say I would be honored!

Wyatt has learned how to tell us if he is upset. Thankfully he really only gets upset if he is hungry or sleepy and we can predict that pretty well and head it off. This kid has some lungs and is not afraid to use them. His whole body also turns red when he get going.

Our sweet boy loves to get a bath but for some reason does not like being wrapped up in the towel afterward. He kicks his way out of it and I think he gets made because he is cold. So we go from calm relaxing bath to mania for a few minutes until he is lotioned, diapered and dressed. It could also be the towel hood he doesn't like. Either way we get this wild eyed look if he is not crying. Bless him.

On Friday school was closed for staff development day and Monday marks the day for new classes. Since Hannah Claire was home with us we decided to visit the pool. Wyatt had never been and Mrs. Emily was home so we met her there. I'm quite confident that Wyatt will have zero memory of his first visit to the pool since this is all he did. (Yes it's a pink umbrella but we had it and we used it. You will be seeing more of it I'm sure.)

Hannah Claire had fun. This kid loves the water. We did have a little episode though. I guess it's 3 year old defiance (at least that is what I am telling myself) but HC got in trouble for running. Nothing major just a firm reminder not to run because we could slip and fall. She then proceeded to take off and jump in WITHOUT her puddle jumper. Now she took swim lessons last summer but nothing this year. She is pretty good in the water but no where good enough to swim without assistance. I was a little nervous about going in the pool with my incision still being so new. Well that went right out the window and in I went. I pulled that kid out with one arm in about 0.2 seconds flat. I probably scared her more than being underwater actually did but that is okay. She has to learn and I think she did. Thankfully Mrs. Emily was there to make HC go back in the water so she would not be scared in the future. I was ready to pack up and go home. I am so glad we did not.

Hannah Claire is also headed to another milestone. She is starting ballet and tap class. She is so giddy with excitement. We stopped at Academy after church to look for some gear. We found ballet shoes and two leotards. This kid was shaking it just from trying on her leotard. And for the record she wanted the black over the pink. We ended up getting both but I guess that is another milestone. What little girl doesn't want pink? She is about the cutest thing I have ever seen!

Wyatt's First Trip to Pawpaw's

Miller party of four loaded up for our first trip since Wyatt's arrival. We got to spend some quality time with Pawpaw. Wyatt was enjoying his time as soon as we got there.

After a Saturday trip up to Pikeville for some yummy burgers we got to be entertained by Wyatt. He showed out for Pawpaw. We got to see the "I'm falling" look, the giggle, they yawn, the sneeze, the dimple, and belly laugh. He is quite the performer.

Before we headed out we did see the biggest spider I have ever seen in my life! I mean seriously!!! The picture does not even do it justice, it was HUGE!
